Sanyo Xacti HD1010 is a fantastic little camcorder. The picture quality is excellent, and I like being able to record, then HD makes it look real star in my HDTV. I think we all agree on what is right with the camera. I’ll skip this step and go directly to the two obvious problems. Others have pointed out, and I just have to add my two cents.
Hunting focus.
No matter what I’m shooting. No matter what setting I have. The subject will focus perfect and the camera always start quickly and back to the fire. For the life of me I do not know how to stop it. If you set the camera on a tripod and film an empty room, not hunting. But with the addition of any movement, and the hunt begins. It is always short and always recovers. But why is it there? My cheap camera sometimes hang on something else, and could walk again. But this goes way out of POW-fire blips in and out fast. I studied the clips and can not understand what is still trying to concentrate. Whatever it is, do not. Is not blocking the rest. It ‘just throw out of focus and vice versa. Some say they have seen, and it’s annoying. Sure it is inconvenient for me!
Image Stabilization.
You really do something? I can not say if it makes the image better or worse … or maybe not do anything. There seems no way to walk with this camera and then be able to see the results on TV. As you can, there is simply no way to hold the camera steady enough. And get ready position with your elbows at your sides, the image still wanders. Just what does the IS do? And when he does? If you use a tripod, the image is great, obviously. But even on a tripod pan creates an image shakes do not understand. The sad truth is that you never had a top end CAM recorder it, and I never had one with worse. (
But you know what? Even with these warts, I’m keeping it. If these two problems can be solved (apparently with a firmware upgrade) that would be down right giddy about this issue.
